HART MODEM LINKING THROUGH A VIRTUAL SERIAL PORT

• A virtual serial port must be installed and active as a client on the terminal.
• The data contained in a user request sent by an application towards the serial port of the client are transmitted by the driver of its virtual serial port towards a remote virtual serial port acting as a server. These data are carried over Ethernet between the two virtual serial ports.
• The remote virtual serial port server transforms and redirects the received data towards the physical serial port of the HART modem.
• The latter modulates the current of the analogical signal in the 4-20 mA current loop in function of the data received on its own serial port.
• Finally, the HART transducer of the device demodulates the signal in the current loop and serves the digital data to the system controlling this device, which now is going to exploit them.

Reciprocally the remote device which serves the measures sends the answers to the client terminal using the same way backward.
